Situation:

Our client approached us to replace their outgoing SVP of Technology who had just been promoted to another division within the organisation. The person to replace was an expert in creating technology roadmaps for Wide Bandgap technologies, more specifically Power Electronics based on GaN (Gallium Nitride). He was also a leader of 300 people within R&D/Technology development.

Approach:

Knowing the potential pool of candidates with these exact technical skills and global leadership skills would be limited, we mapped out the market to identify which companies would be worth approaching. We identified 25 companies and decided to proactively target the senior Technology and R&D executives within these companies.

Results:

After interviewing 5 global candidates presented by Insight, including executives from Taiwan and the US, the successful chosen candidate came from one of their direct competitors in Munich, who had over 15 years of experience in managing & growing R&D & Technology Development teams in both Silicon Carbide & Gallium Nitride technologies for Power MOSFETs. The candidate is still working there today, having recently been promoted to SVP.
